James Cunningham died from wounds on 20th November, 1914 after having been brought back to the United Kingdom but as yet, there is no information, as to when and where he was wounded. The 1st Irish Guards were part of 4 (Guards) Brigade, 2nd Division that had arrived in France at the beginning of the war and had been involved in much of the fighting since then.
